Tour Details

If you are considering the United States Air Force Academy and plan to visit the campus, you may wish to attend a cadet-escorted tour or a briefing. Tours are offered during the academic year to Freshman, Sophomores, Juniors, Seniors, and high school graduates.

These offerings can help students who have the potential to compete for appointment to the Academy gain a deeper understanding of the Academy environment.

We conduct cadet-escorted tours for students on Mondays, Thursdays, and Fridays during the academic year. For more on available dates, request a tour reservation. Reservations are required. Note that there are several dates, such as holidays and final exam or training event periods, on which no tours are scheduled.

Tour dress is business casual with comfortable walking shoes. Touring campus is a physically strenuous activity that includes walking long distances, often uphill. Take care to wear comfortable walking shoes.

If members of your party have limited or impaired mobility, you must bring a wheelchair and/or make arrangements for assistance. When you request your reservation, please let us know if you have special needs so that we may provide any additional information relevant to your situation.

Tour Itinerary

Tours begin at 8:45 a.m. at Arnold Hall, where students and accompanying family members will meet an Admissions representative. All attendees will be escorted to a location where a one-hour admissions briefing is given.

At 9:45 a.m., students will be paired up with a cadet to “shadow” until 3:30 p.m. Students will attend classes, visit dorms, tour athletic facilities, and have lunch in the cadet dining hall. Note that lunch is provided for a $4.55 fee, and that exact change is appreciated.

Also at 10:15 a.m., family members are taken on a separate tour which will last approximately one hour. Upon completion of this tour, family members may take part in an optional Cadet Chapel tour. Family members are then directed to places that are open to the public, which they may visit until the students return at 3:30 p.m. At that time, family members will meet the students at Arnold Hall.

Tour Dates and Reservations

Cadet-escorted tours can be scheduled throughout the academic year, generally starting the third week of August through the first week of May. There are, however, many dates on which campus activities preclude tours. Please double-check tour availability when you request your tour reservation.

In order to schedule a student for a cadet-escorted tour, we require you to make a reservation at least 10 days in advance of the day you would like to visit our campus. We will be happy to schedule a tour for you once you provide all the information required. For more details, see our reservation request form.

Campus Access

The Academy is open to visitors between 8:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. daily. If you DO NOT have active duty or retired military identification, you must show your driver’s license, registration and proof of insurance. Your vehicle will be searched before you’re allowed entry to the Academy.
