The Academy defines character as: "Qualities of moral excellence which
compel a person to do the right things despite pressure or temptations to
the contrary."
These are the expectations to which are Cadets are held in everything
they do, every day they are Air Force Academy Cadets. To this end, we
offer several programs to grow, encourage, and reinforce the qualities
of character, honor and discipline.
The Cadet Honor Code is as follows:
"We will not lie, steal, or cheat, nor tolerate among us anyone
who does. Furthermore, I resolve to do my duty and live honorably, so
help me God."
The code is enforced by the Cadet Honor Committee, a group of Cadets
representing each squadron. The cost of violating the code is often disenrollment.
The Character and Leadership Education Division is charged with providing
a variety of programs to help develop a solid moral foundation in every
Cadet.
At the Academy, excellence is not a rarity but rather
the norm. Several programs in the Academy’s Excellence Division
allow Cadets to put their character and leadership skills knowledge to
practical use.
