The U.S. Air Force Academy is located 55
miles south of Denver and eight miles north of Colorado Springs on
Interstate 25.
- If you travel to the Academy by car, you will find that entrances
are clearly marked.
- From the north, you may enter the Academy at Exit 156.
- From the south, the easiest access to the Academy is at Exit
150. (You must have some type of DOD ID card to enter the Academy
at the south gate.)
Academy Boulevard, a major street that dissects Colorado Springs,
goes from the eastern and southern part of the city directly to
the south entrance of the Academy.

The Colorado Springs Airport is convenient to the Academy. You
can find taxi and auto rentals to get you from the airport to the
Academy.
Directions from Colorado Springs Airport
- As you depart the airport, go west on Drennen Road to Powers
Boulevard.
- Head north to Woodmen Road (about 12 miles) then west to Academy
Boulevard and then north – directly to the south entrance
of the Academy.
From Denver International Airport
Go south on Peña Boulevard to I-70. Head west to I-225,
then southwest to I-25 and then south to the Academy (Exit 156).
Amtrak Railway serves Denver. Once there, taxi, auto rental and
bus services are available to get you to Colorado Springs.
Greyhound also serves Colorado Springs and taxi and auto rentals
are available. There is no city bus service to the Academy.
